  • 6 cups sour cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (for crust)
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  3. Roll out one half of the chilled dough and line a pie plate with it.

  5. Roll out the second half of the dough and place over the filling. Seal edges and cut slits in the top crust.
  6. Bake on a lined cookie sheet for 50-55 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
