  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup corn starch
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Almond slices for garnish
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Warm milk in a medium pan until hot but not boiling.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and corn starch until fluffy. Gradually add warm milk while whisking.
  3. Pour the mixture into the pan over medium heat, stirring continuously until it thickens to a slow boil. Cook for a few more minutes, then cool.
  4. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out puff pastry and cut into squares with L-shaped corners.
  5. Fold corners over, prick centers with a fork, and brush edges with milk or egg wash.
  6. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Once cooled, fill pastries with custard and top with berries and almond slices.
